The Political Downfall of Reza Pahlavi and His Associates
Recently, Reza Pahlavi shared a photograph of his meeting with several individuals he describes as political and cultural figures. However, the identities of these individuals are largely unfamiliar, even to media activists, with the exception of one notable person.
Iraj Masdagh, who stands to the left of the flag in the image, was once a supporter of the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization but later distanced himself from the group. Over the years, he gained notoriety for capitalizing on the events surrounding the execution of Mojahedin members in 1987, often speaking to the media on this topic.
During the trial of Hamid Noury in Sweden, Masdagh exerted considerable effort to secure Noury's condemnation, holding meetings outside the courtroom with fellow Mojahedin members. However, following Noury's release and subsequent return to Iran, Masdagh's influence waned significantly.
This political figure, who once championed the Mojahedin but has since embarked on a different path, has now aligned himself with Reza Pahlavi's supporters. Pahlavi, despite his attempts to appeal to American interests, has struggled to garner the approval of his backers, rendering him an even more politically bankrupt figure than Masdagh.
