Leadership Dispute in Croatia Over Military Cooperation with Israel

A significant rift has emerged within Croatia’s leadership regarding the nation’s military collaboration with Israel. Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has asserted Croatia’s right to engage in defense partnerships with Israel emphasizing that such decisions fall within the government’s jurisdiction.

In stark contrast President Zoran Milanović has firmly opposed any military agreements with Israel stating that the Croatian army will not collaborate with the Israeli military or its defense industries in any capacity. This disagreement has intensified following Defense Minister Ivan Anušić’s recent visit to Israel aimed at strengthening the defense ties between the two nations.

Milanović has cautioned that such agreements could jeopardize Croatia’s interests and exacerbate divisions within the country’s leadership.
