Security forces in Egypt have arrested a man in western Cairo who caused a series of accidents with his vehicle, which prominently displayed the flag of Israel.

Reports from Egyptian media on Friday revealed that Giza police detained the suspect after he triggered a chain reaction of collisions in the streets of Kerdasa, a neighborhood in western Cairo. Local reports indicate that the accused admitted to having a verbal altercation with pedestrians due to the Israeli flag affixed to his car window. He claimed that he fled out of fear of being attacked, which led to him colliding with several individuals and vehicles. However, he did not provide any justification for why he had placed the Israeli flag on his vehicle.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the perpetrator is a 28-year-old agricultural engineer. While navigating through a crowded street, he became embroiled in a confrontation with onlookers who noticed the Israeli flag on his car, and during his escape, he collided with multiple cars, resulting in injuries to three people.Following his arrest, security forces documented statements from the owners of the damaged vehicles and the injured parties, while reviewing CCTV footage from the incident location. The case has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for further investigation.

According to the newspaper ‘Al-Youm Al-Sabaa,’ the Egyptian prosecutor’s office has commenced interrogations with the suspect, formally charging him with ‘inciting public opinion’ and ‘displaying the flag of Israel in public spaces to provoke citizens and sow discord.’A video circulating on social media depicts a Jeep racing wildly through Kerdasa adorned with the Israeli flag as locals attempt to stop it while it strikes pedestrians and other vehicles.
