In a recent press conference, Fatemeh Mohajerani, the government spokesperson, congratulated the nation on the blessed days of Ramadan, expressing her hopes for God’s mercy and peace for the country.
She noted that over 40 days have passed since the tragic events of December, and the wounds within society remain fresh and painful. While the government and provincial governors have held mourning ceremonies, families continue their traditional observances, as the loss of loved ones is unforgettable and deeply felt.Mohajerani stated that investigating the causes of these events is a priority, asserting that the government is committed to accountability and responsibility. She believes that through rationality, collective trust, and acknowledgment of past errors, the country can overcome this crisis.
She warned that foreign adversaries and provocateurs aim to weaken and divide Iran, but with the people’s resilience and reliance on national resources, the nation will navigate through these challenges.Addressing regional threats, she highlighted the government’s efforts to avert the dangers of war and counteract plans that, while seemingly aimed at Iran’s development, actually seek to undermine and fragment the nation.
The primary objective is to steer the situation toward tranquility. It is crucial for everyone to comprehend the urgency of addressing both the public’s anger and the high-level threats facing the country, necessitating special attention from governing bodies and intellectual leaders.Mohajerani emphasized that the path to progress lies in dialogue. Once tensions subside, it is essential to engage in calm discussions, as dialogue and rationality are the solutions, not anger or aggression.
Regarding the reopening of universities, she acknowledged that students, as active and young individuals, naturally have the right to protest, especially when they are hurting. However, she stressed the importance of recognizing boundaries, stating that sacred symbols and the national flag are red lines that must not be crossed, even in moments of frustration. She expressed gratitude to the ministers of Science, Research, and Technology, as well as Health, Treatment, and Medical Education, along with university leaders and faculty members for their patience in the reopening process, advocating for an environment of enlightenment marked by reflection, tolerance, and knowledge.
Mohajerani urged everyone to remain vigilant, understanding students’ frustrations while moving towards effective dialogue. Education must not be halted, nor should the voices of protesters be ignored; both can coexist within a framework of rationality. The government is prepared to listen to students and engage with them on campus ready to respond openly. While most university classes are ongoing some are not being held due to student absences a reality that cannot be overlooked.
