According to the Imam and Leadership Group of the Tasnim News Agency, the two hundred forty-ninth edition of the online newspaper ‘Voice of Iran’ has been released by the media office of the preservation and publication of Imam Khamenei’s works. This edition is dedicated to the pure soul of Martyr Colonel Hadi Sadegh, a security defender who was martyred by armed rioters in the recent American-Zionist turmoil in Ferdows, Karaj.
The editorial states: “Warfare is not limited to missile launches and bombings; some conflicts can be far more terrifying than military war. The military confrontation with Iran at the beginning of the year lasted twelve days and ended with a ceasefire, but the war in the realm of psychological operations and media has not only persisted but intensified.
The tragic events of December that left Iran in mourning were caused by various factors, but it can be boldly asserted that the media war played a crucial and undeniable role in this quasi-coup. This coup differed fundamentally from classical coups. In classic coups, everything remains hidden until the last minute, and the conspirators operate entirely in secrecy, where confidentiality is a determining factor in the success of the operation. However, in postmodern coups—like what occurred in December—secrecy, in its conventional sense, loses meaning, and the media, especially social networks and online campaigns, play a significant role in preparing and advancing the coup. The vigilance of the Iranian nation thwarted the coup, but another characteristic of such coups is the fluidity of time. From this perspective, it can be said that the enemy’s efforts and designs in this field have not ceased, and they still hope to revive their failed plans by relying on psychological operations and distorting realities.
Recently, the United States has initiated a new phase of media warfare by deploying its naval fleet to the region. This fleet, more than being prepared for combat, aims to provide the necessary fuel for intensifying psychological operations in the media and public opinion, compelling Iran to retreat from its national interests and ultimately submit without resorting to war and bearing its consequences.
The Israeli regime, which has extensive experience in this arena, plays a prominent role. This joint American-Israeli operation has several major and fundamental axes: highlighting the shadow of war to intimidate the Iranian people; aligning mainstream media worldwide and disseminating various rumors and anti-Iranian lies (from rumors of officials fleeing to inflating anger and despair in society); presenting a distorted image of the Iranian people and replacing them with a handful of traitors in the media frame, and promoting submission as a reasonable solution. The heroism of the Iranian people on January 12 and February 11 demonstrated that despite this unprecedented and overwhelming media war the enemy has still failed to achieve its objectives. However this failure should not mislead those who cherish Iran. The victims of this cognitive war do not die; rather they become detached from the front lines defending Iran either by becoming passive or by joining the enemy’s ranks in this conflict. From this perspective it must be said that even one victim is too many lamentable and unacceptable.
On December 20 2025 the Leader of the Revolution remarked on the dimensions and significance of this battle: “Today we are beyond military confrontations… at the center of a propaganda and media conflict; with whom? With a vast front… The enemy has realized that seizing this land and this divine and spiritual territory is impossible with pressure and military means. They understand that if they want to intervene successfully they must change hearts and minds… The enemy’s goal in our country is to erase the radiant effects of revolutionary concepts; their aim is to gradually divert the people from remembering the revolution the goals of the revolution and the actions taken during the revolution and to distract them from the Imam of the revolution; they are working for this spending billions… Writers artists book authors novelists Hollywood and others are being employed for this purpose… Therefore the front of the revolution and the agents of resistance must recognize this enemy situation… Our military arrangements depend on the enemy’s objectives… This work in the realm of propaganda must be done. The media posture must move in the direction that the enemy has targeted which is Islamic Shia and revolutionary teachings… We must stand against these efforts.” Everyone regardless of their position can play a part in this media warfare against the enemy’s all-out attack and we must ask ourselves as supporters and defenders of the Islamic Revolution and beloved Iran how well we are prepared for this battle. Undoubtedly officials stakeholders and media have a more serious responsibility in this arena and must critically reassess their actions and strategies.
