According to reports from political news agencies, Brigadier General Nasser Mohammadi Far, a decorated veteran and a prominent commander during the eight years of the Sacred Defense, passed away at the age of 80 after years of dedicated service to his homeland. His legacy is marked by unwavering commitment and valor.
Born in 1945 in the village of Mianroudān, located in the Khalkhal County, he entered the officer training academy in 1967. After completing his undergraduate studies and initial armored training in Shiraz, he began his military career in 1972 as a platoon commander in the 237th Tank Battalion of the 37th Armored Division.During the war, he held various key positions, including commanding the 234th Armored Battalion of the 2nd Brigade of the 88th Armored Division, serving as the deputy commander of the 88th Division, and leading the 16th and 81st Armored Divisions. He also served as an operations officer for the 88th Armored Division in critical operational areas such as Sarpol-e Zahab and Qasr-e Shirin.
While commanding the 2nd Brigade of the 88th Division, he was tasked by the then commander of the Ground Forces, Major General Hossein Saadi, to establish and lead the 35th Rapid Reaction Commando Brigade in the Somar region, showcasing his leadership and strategic acumen.
Following the war, he continued to serve in various capacities, including commanding the Southern Headquarters of the Army Ground Forces, acting as deputy coordinator, and serving as a military advisor to the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. From 2000 to 2005, he held the position of commander of the Ground Forces of the Islamic Republic Army, later becoming a senior advisor to the Supreme Leader on military matters.His successful participation in critical operations during the Sacred Defense the liberation of the Sanavapa Heights and his dynamic leadership during major military exercises attended by the Supreme Commander are hallmarks of his illustrious career.
