According to a report from the International News Agency, Saudi analyst Mubarak Al-Aati has described the comments made by Mike Huckabee, the US Ambassador in Israel, regarding the project asserting Israel’s right to vast territories from the Nile to the Euphrates, as a significant threat to Arab and Islamic peace and security, and a warning bell for the region’s future.
Al-Aati characterized Huckabee’s remarks as ‘shocking and irresponsible,’ asserting that he is deliberately inciting hostility towards Arab nations, the Islamic world, and their peoples. These statements constitute a blatant violation of international agreements and all norms and laws set forth by the United Nations. He emphasized that the US Ambassador’s statements reflect Washington’s disregard for its relations with the Middle East and Arab nations, showcasing a complete bias towards the occupying regime, and hinting at a dangerously radical ideology known as the Greater Israel Project.
Al-Aati pointed out that the international system is currently navigating through a highly sensitive phase as a result of these statements. In response to the US Ambassador’s remarks, Saudi Arabia issued a firm statement rejecting these comments and any implications that could infringe upon Arab nations, their borders, and sovereignty.
Al-Aati stressed the necessity for a robust Arab stance against Huckabee’s statements, urging Arab countries to adopt positions that put an end to such audacity from the US Ambassador, who confirmed that the US government supports projects that undermine borders and national sovereignty of countries, while endorsing all violations of international law by Israel in Gaza. The Saudi writer asserted that we are currently at a very critical juncture created by the US through the statements of its ambassador; remarks that necessitate a reevaluation of Arab countries’ relations with those that adopt such radical ideas.
It is noteworthy that previously Arab and Islamic nations condemned the US Ambassador’s comments in Israel which stated that Israel has the right to seize vast portions of the Middle East based on the Bible. More than 12 countries including Jordan Egypt and the United Arab Emirates issued a joint statement labeling Huckabee’s assertion of Israel’s right to dominate lands from the Nile to the Euphrates as ‘dangerous and provocative’ posing a threat to efforts aimed at ending the Gaza conflict.
