According to reports from the International News Agency, the foreign ministries of Arab and Islamic countries have condemned the U.S. Ambassador’s remarks regarding the acceptance of Israeli sovereignty over Arab lands. They firmly reject any claims of sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories. The Ansar Allah movement in Yemen also interpreted these statements as a sign of U.S. support for Zionist expansionist ambitions.
The foreign ministries of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bahrain, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Egypt, along with the secretariats of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League, and the Gulf Cooperation Council, issued a joint statement on February 22, 2026, in Amman, expressing their strong condemnation and deep concern regarding these remarks. The statement highlights that these comments represent a blatant violation of international law principles and the United Nations Charter, posing a serious threat to the security and stability of the region.
The signatory countries emphasized that these positions contradict the vision presented by Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, and the ‘Comprehensive Plan to End the Conflict in Gaza,’ which aims to de-escalate tensions and create a political horizon for a comprehensive solution that guarantees the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent state. Any remarks legitimizing the control over others’ lands undermine these goals and exacerbate tensions instead of fostering peace.
Furthermore, these countries reiterated that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories or any other occupied Arab lands. They firmly rejected any attempts to annex the West Bank or separate it from the Gaza Strip, as well as the expansion of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. They opposed any threats to the sovereignty of Arab countries. The joint statement warns that the continuation of Israel’s expansionist policies and illegal actions will only ignite further violence and conflict in the region diminishing opportunities for peace. These nations reaffirm their unwavering commitment to the undeniable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the borders of June 4 1967 while ending the occupation of all Arab lands.
In this context the Political Bureau of the Ansar Allah movement in Yemen stated that Mike Huckabee’s remarks reflect U.S. support for Zionist expansionist dreams at the expense of Palestine and Arab countries emphasizing that this situation necessitates serious and coordinated action from Arab nations to counter it.
Huckabee had previously stated that Israel has a biblical right to dominate the region from the Euphrates River to the Nile.
