According to international news reports, Gali Baharav-Miara has decided to summon Netanyahu to clarify details about the ‘leaked classified documents’ case linked to the German newspaper Bild.
The Israeli Attorney General has granted police the authority to call Netanyahu in for questioning, although the date of his appearance is yet to be determined.Netanyahu is expected to explain how information was obtained from his office in connection with allegations of interfering in the investigation concerning the leak of classified documents to Bild.
Recently, Tzachi Braverman, Netanyahu’s chief of staff, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to obstruct the investigation into the leak of sensitive documents to foreign media.As part of this investigation, Eli Feldstein, a former spokesperson for Netanyahu who had been previously detained, has been summoned again for questioning.
This case revolves around a meeting that took place in October 2024, during the conflict with Gaza, in the parking lot of the Israeli Ministry of Defense headquarters in Tel Aviv, between Eli Feldstein and Tzachi Braverman.According to Feldstein’s account Braverman informed him during this meeting that there was an ongoing investigation against him concerning the leak of documents to Bild and he suggested that he could ‘stop the investigation.’
The case stems from a report published in the German newspaper Bild on September 6 2024 which reportedly contained classified materials that had leaked from the Israeli military intelligence system.
