Arab and Islamic Nations Condemn U.S. Ambassador’s Remarks on Israeli Sovereignty

Fourteen Arab and Islamic countries have issued a joint statement condemning the recent remarks made by Mike Huckabee the U.S. Ambassador regarding Israeli sovereignty over Arab territories including the West Bank. The statement characterizes these comments as dangerous and provocative constituting a blatant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter and poses a serious threat to regional security and stability.

The foreign ministries of Qatar Saudi Arabia Jordan Bahrain the United Arab Emirates Indonesia Pakistan Egypt Turkey Syria Kuwait Lebanon and Oman alongside the secretariats of the Gulf Cooperation Council the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation expressed deep concern over these statements. They asserted that such positions are directly contradictory to the views previously expressed by former U.S. President Donald Trump and the comprehensive plan proposed to end the conflict in Gaza.

The joint statement emphasizes that the proposed plan for resolving the Gaza crisis is based on de-escalation of tensions and establishing a political horizon aimed at ensuring the right of the people to form their independent state. The signatories noted that any comments legitimizing the domination over others’ lands undermine these objectives inflame tensions and instead of aiding peace foster provocation and instability.

The signatory nations reiterated their non-recognition of any sovereignty for Israel over occupied territories or any other Arab lands. They rejected any attempts to annex the West Bank separate it from the Gaza Strip or expand settlement activities in the occupied territories firmly dismissing any threats against the sovereignty of Arab nations.

In conclusion the statement warns that the continuation of the expansionist policies and illegal actions of the Israeli regime will only exacerbate violence and conflict in the region obliterating opportunities for peace. These countries reaffirmed their commitment to the inalienable right of the people to determine their destiny and establish an independent state within the borders of June 4 1967 while calling for an end to the occupation of all Arab lands.
