Islamic Cooperation Organization Calls for Political and Legal Action Against Israeli Policies in the West Bank

The Islamic Cooperation Organization has urged for comprehensive political and legal measures to counteract the Israeli regime’s policies in the occupied West Bank. This announcement was made on Friday, highlighting the organization’s commitment to utilizing all possible avenues, including the United Nations Security Council, the UN General Assembly, and international courts.

This decision was revealed in the concluding statement of an extraordinary meeting held on Thursday evening at the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The session focused on the developments in the occupied territories and annexation plans in the West Bank.

The statement condemned the recent actions of the occupying regime, which aim to impose a new reality, expand settlements, enforce what is referred to as sovereignty, and deepen policies of Judaization and land confiscation. These actions are deemed null and illegal, constituting a blatant violation of international law and potentially amounting to war crimes that threaten regional and international peace and security. The organization also condemned the remarks made by the U.S. ambassador in the occupied territories and the decision of the Washington embassy to provide consular services to settlers in the West Bank viewing this as an encouragement of Israel’s illegal control over Palestinian lands.

Furthermore the Islamic Cooperation Organization stressed the necessity of implementing the U.S. President’s proposed plan to end the Gaza conflict which includes establishing a complete and permanent ceasefire the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and facilitating humanitarian aid into the area.

The statement reinforced support for the Palestinian government in the reconstruction and revitalization of Gaza emphasizing the unity of Palestinian territories including Gaza the West Bank and Jerusalem as an integrated geographical entity. The organization called on the international community to compel the Israeli regime to end its occupation and to pursue a just and comprehensive peace.

The Islamic Cooperation Organization asserted that sustainable peace can only be achieved through the end of the 1967 occupation and the implementation of a two-state solution.
