Water Crisis in Gaza: Shortage Reaches 90% of Daily Needs

The Gaza Municipality has reported a dire water crisis with shortages now reaching approximately 90% of the daily water requirements prior to the conflict. Tarek Shahab the water affairs officer at the municipality highlighted that the situation has worsened significantly due to the ongoing disruption of the water supply line operated by Mekorot.

Shahab emphasized the severity of the water scarcity which poses a critical challenge for the residents of Gaza. In an effort to mitigate the impact of this crisis the municipality has activated private water wells and extended the operating hours of the remaining wells striving to meet the minimum water needs of certain areas within the city.
