According to reports from Mehr News Agency, the National Committee for Referring Patients and Injured Individuals in Gaza has called upon the World Health Organization to urgently intervene and establish a clear and binding framework for the immediate evacuation of patients and the injured from Gaza.

This committee highlighted that the ongoing travel restrictions threaten the lives of thousands. It represents approximately 22,000 injured individuals on the referral list, among whom 5,000 require immediate evacuation. Additionally, there are 8,000 registered cases needing medical travel for cancer treatment. The report emphasizes that at least one patient dies daily due to the inability to leave Gaza. The total number of injured individuals in the Gaza Strip is nearing 200,000, with 20,000 suffering from amputations and in need of advanced prosthetics and rehabilitation treatment.

The committee has urged Egyptian officials to take immediate humanitarian action to intervene and reopen the Rafah crossing. Furthermore, it has called upon international mediators and the Global Peace Council to exert pressure for facilitating the travel of critical cases to Israel. This statement underscores that the Rafah crossing is the only land route for over two million Palestinians and the current travel mechanism has turned into a ‘gradual death sentence’ for patients.
