According to reports from Mehr News Agency citing Anadolu, Isaac Herzog, the President of Israel, arrived in Addis Ababa today, Wednesday, for an official visit aimed at meeting with Ethiopian President Abiy Ahmed.
Herzog’s office confirmed that he landed in Addis Ababa this morning, where he was warmly welcomed at the airport by Gedion Timotheos, Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister, and Abraham Neguiz, Israel’s Ambassador to Ethiopia.This visit occurs against a backdrop of ongoing disputes regarding borders water security and border crossings involving Addis Ababa Egypt Sudan Somalia and Eritrea.
Israel views Ethiopia as a long-term strategic partner and is taking steps to further strengthen its diplomatic relations with the nation.
