According to reports from Mehr News Agency citing the Palestinian Information Center, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, the head of the Supreme Islamic Council and the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, criticized the ongoing restrictive policies of the Israeli regime. He stated that there has been a noticeable intensification of restrictions by the occupying authorities targeting Al-Aqsa Mosque, surpassing previous limitations before Ramadan. He emphasized that all these measures are aimed at reducing the number of Muslim worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque. As expected, hundreds of thousands of worshippers have made their way to Al-Aqsa to fulfill their religious duties. However, this popular movement has not been well-received by the occupiers, who have issued entry bans against dozens of young residents of Jerusalem.Sheikh Sabri further highlighted that the people of Jerusalem endure significant hardships to reach Al-Aqsa Mosque. He noted that our brothers in the West Bank are being prevented from accessing Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem by the occupiers. He pointed out that the occupying regime creates numerous restrictions and obstacles around Jerusalem and within the city itself to limit access to this holy place. The Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque stated that on the other hand these barriers and checkpoints are closed during Friday prayer times to deprive people of worship. He asserted that the restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities contradict the principle of freedom of expression and international laws leading to heightened tensions and conflicts.
