According to reports, in response to increasing pressures from the United States and the Zionist regime to disarm the Palestinian resistance under the guise of a ceasefire in Gaza, Walid Kilani, the media spokesperson for Hamas in Lebanon, stated last night that the weapon of Palestinian resistance is legitimate and should not be harmed.
“The weapon of resistance is a red line for the Palestinian people,” Kilani emphasized in an interview with Al-Masirah network from Yemen. He noted that all Palestinians agree on the necessity of maintaining their weapons for self-defense against the Zionist occupiers.
He further asserted that Palestinians must retain their arms rather than surrender them, and any discussion regarding compromises on the resistance’s weaponry is rejected by both the populace and the resistance groups.Kilani referred to a survey conducted by a Christian research institute in Ramallah, revealing that 69% of Palestinians firmly oppose disarmament and view the preservation of their weapons as a national necessity that cannot be overlooked.
He clarified that the agreement cited by the Zionist regime and participating Arab countries in the so-called international forces does not explicitly call for disarmament. This agreement links disarmament of the resistance to commitments that everyone knows the occupiers will not uphold.
Kilani emphasized that Hamas did not agree to the plan presented by Donald Trump, the former U.S. President, in its entirety; rather, they only consented to certain clauses related to prisoner exchanges and establishing a ceasefire. Nonetheless, the Zionists have not adhered to any of the ceasefire agreement’s provisions. He stated that armed resistance will only cease with the establishment of a fully independent Palestinian state with a strong army to protect it. Kilani asserted that the enemy seeks to subjugate the Palestinian people, but as long as the occupation persists, resistance will continue. Hamas has made it clear that if a fully independent Palestinian state with a protective army is established, there will be no need for armed resistance, and Palestinian movements will evolve into political frameworks like other nations.
The Hamas spokesperson condemned the ongoing crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, stressing that the occupiers have crossed all boundaries and red lines. The brutal attack by the Zionists on the southern suburbs of Beirut, which resulted in the martyrdom of a senior Hezbollah commander, exemplifies the audacity of the occupiers.Kilani pointed out the repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement by the Zionist regime, stating that the enemy has not complied with the ceasefire established on October 10 in Gaza and continues to evade its commitments.
He also addressed the internal crisis within the Zionist regime and the confusion among the occupiers, noting that their disarray is evident in recent protests. The occupying regime is expanding its aggressions to cover up its internal crises.
Kilani reiterated that the resistance continues to urge mediators to pressure the occupying regime to adhere to the ceasefire. Meanwhile, the U.S. government remains focused on the needs and interests of the Zionist regime, using human rights as a deceptive slogan to achieve political goals. The Hamas media official highlighted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations, where he presented a regional map excluding Palestine. Netanyahu’s agenda aims to expand aggression beyond occupied Palestine, targeting Lebanon, Syria, and potentially Jordan and Egypt.
Kilani also referenced comments by Bezalel Smotrich, the fascist finance minister of the Zionist regime, who stated that “war will not end without displacing the residents of Gaza, weakening Hezbollah, fragmenting Syria, attacking Iran’s nuclear program, and imposing new calamities on the Arabs.”
He noted that the recognition of the Palestinian state by many countries, even if symbolic, was a significant shock for the Zionists. Meanwhile, the United States continues to reject any discussions about the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel. The Hamas official mentioned that Sheikh Ahmed Yassin the founder of the movement proposed the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders without conceding any part of historic Palestine or recognizing Israel along with a ceasefire lasting five to ten years. However the occupiers rejected all solutions because they do not seek to establish a Palestinian state; rather they aim to annihilate the Palestinian people and erase the name of Palestine from the world.
Kilani concluded by affirming that resistance remains steadfast despite all challenges and will continue on its path until the complete liberation of the Palestinian people.
