Preserving the Dignity of Universities and National Symbols: A Call to Action

The Secretariat of the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council has reiterated the importance of safeguarding the dignity of universities and national symbols in light of recent minor violations observed in academic environments. Emphasizing the esteemed role of universities as centers of knowledge, ethics, and identity formation for the youth, the council highlighted the necessity of protecting higher education institutions and the Islamic and national symbols of the country.

In its statement, the council condemned disrespect towards the sacred flag of the nation, which symbolizes the sacrifices of the brave youth of Iran. The council characterized acts of violence and immorality as behaviors that cannot be misconstrued and are unequivocally outside the bounds of university regulations and the ideals of personal and social development expected of every Iranian.

What has been witnessed today from a small number of individuals in certain educational settings does not reflect the sentiments of the students of this nation. Indeed, hostility towards ethics, humanity, and the homeland, as well as fostering enmity, are not acceptable in the lexicon of the wise or within the culture of any dignified and independent country.Consequently the council expects the Ministry of Science Research and Technology along with the Ministry of Health Treatment and Medical Education particularly the esteemed university presidents to take decisive and immediate action against those who have disrespected sacred values and revealed their unbecoming cultural attitudes. Furthermore they are urged to utilize the platforms of free thought to create a vibrant dialogue space for the exchange of diverse political opinions and demands.
