According to the International News Service of the Voice of America, Ismail Baqai, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denounced the Israeli airstrikes targeting Lebanon, including the Bekaa region. These attacks have led to the tragic deaths and injuries of civilians, as well as significant damage to the country’s infrastructure.
Baqai called for urgent action from the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security.He highlighted the continuous violation of Lebanon’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity describing the ongoing silence and inaction of the UN Security Council regarding the lawlessness and crimes committed by the Israeli regime as catastrophic. Baqai emphasized the direct responsibility of the United States and France as guarantors of the ceasefire in perpetuating this troubling situation.
