According to international news reports from France 24, a court in France has sentenced Mahdieh Esfandiari, an Iranian citizen, to four years in prison due to her advocacy for Palestine. This ruling was announced on Thursday, March 7, 2024.Following the court session, Esfandiari received a sentence consisting of one year of active imprisonment and three years suspended. She had previously spent eight months in pre-trial detention before being granted conditional release.Additionally the court has permanently barred the 39-year-old Iranian citizen from entering French territory.
