According to reports from the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, the Deputy Minister for Legal and International Affairs, attending the high-level Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva, articulated Iran’s positions on human rights issues on the first day of the session.
On this inaugural day, speeches were delivered not only by foreign ministers from numerous countries but also by the UN Secretary-General, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the President of the UN General Assembly. The full text of the Deputy Foreign Minister’s speech at this meeting is as follows:
“In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, Mr. President, esteemed delegates, ladies, and gentlemen,
The Islamic Republic of Iran is a responsible and accountable nation in the realm of human rights. The Islamic Revolution of Iran was a human rights revolution aimed at liberation from dictatorship and the establishment of democracy. After 47 years, you have witnessed millions of Iranians take to the streets in broad support of their revolution and independence. Unfortunately, some deceitful actors continuously speak of the human rights of the Iranian people. Today, I clarify for you that the self-proclaimed defenders of human rights are, in fact, the main violators of the rights of the Iranian people.
The United States, the United Kingdom, and France, along with their allies, fully supported Saddam’s regime during the eight-year imposed war against Iran, resulting in over 830,000 martyrs and wounded, with 117,000 of these casualties caused by the use of inhumane chemical weapons supplied to Saddam, particularly by Germany.
More than 25,000 innocent Iranian civilians, including women and children, were murdered by terrorist groups that currently find refuge in Western countries. The human rights of millions of Iranians, especially their right to life, have been widely violated due to the unilateral, unjust, and illegal sanctions imposed by these self-proclaimed human rights advocates, constituting crimes against humanity.
In the twelve-day war of June 2025 between the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, over 1,060 were martyred and around 6,000 were injured, while these so-called defenders of human rights supported the aggressors and even prevented the Security Council and the Human Rights Council from condemning this aggression.””Countries that speak of the human rights of the Iranian people, did they not feel the pain of these people’s rights at that time? Where were the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany back then?
Truly, what actions have the self-proclaimed defenders of human rights taken in response to the brutal crimes of the Israeli regime against the defenseless people of Gaza, which led to the martyrdom and injury of over 244,000 individuals, except for supporting this criminal regime and obstructing any actions against it in international and human rights forums?
Regrettably, the Human Rights Council has become a tool in the hands of these false human rights advocates. What matters to these countries is not human rights.
When the civilizations of these human rights claimants had not yet taken shape, Iran was the cradle of civilization and human rights. You have surely heard that the first charter of human rights, the Cyrus Charter of Human Rights, was drafted in Iran over 25 centuries ago.””It is unfortunate that the self-proclaimed defenders of human rights wish to teach democracy to the Iranian people, who liberated themselves from the tyranny of the Pahlavi regime 47 years ago! Sadly, some anti-human rights movements mistakenly believe they can bring this democracy through the exiled and ousted dictator’s child! Is this not a betrayal and insult to democracy?
The Iranian people are those who have supported their country’s independence and unity under all circumstances, not those who treacherously call for bombing their own country and are despised among Iranians. We take pride in all Iranians abroad who yearn for their homeland, even if they have criticisms, and we urge them to strive for the glory, greatness, and honor of Iran.
From this podium, I declare that Iran and its people stand firmly against any conspiracy, be it military or political, against their homeland. Iranians, although not aggressors against other countries, know how to defend their land and dignity decisively. The enemies of Iran may be able to initiate a war, but they will not determine its end. The consequences of war will not be confined to the two parties but will engulf the entire region. You have tested sanctions and war in relation to Iran and achieved nothing; now it is time to experience diplomacy and respect.””Mr. President
Regrettably Iran’s enemies who suffered a severe and painful defeat in the twelve-day war have sought to create the conditions for another military operation through chaos and unrest. For this reason peaceful protests by the people in response to economic conditions have been turned into riots.
The rioters and terrorists have committed heinous crimes reminiscent of those of ISIS such as burning individuals alive beheading and fabricating deaths resulting in the martyrdom of 2427 innocent people and guardians of order and security out of a total of 3117 casualties in these events.
Unfortunately some anti-human rights factions publish fabricated statistics about the deceased for political purposes while none have been able to substantively refute the official statistics released by the country.
We are the avengers of all unjustly spilled blood. The main perpetrators of these incidents particularly the United States and the Israeli regime who have once again been defeated by the Iranian people along with their puppet the child of the ousted dictator must be held accountable for their crimes against humanity.”
