The Sacred Ground of Talaiyeh: A Reflection on the Intersection of Struggle and Prayer

Brigadier General Baqerzadeh emphasizes that Talaiyeh is a land where warriors intertwined their acts of struggle and prayer during the Khyber operation. In an interview he recounted how at dawn as the front lines were breached soldiers were actively engaged in combat. Amidst the chaos one soldier fired an RPG while another manned a machine gun all while navigating through a minefield and confronting enemy tanks.

In this tumultuous setting the fighters performed their prayers on the move illustrating a profound moment where the essence of jihad and salah converged. Baqerzadeh shared his first experience in this area in 1992 recalling the unique atmosphere that enveloped the land. He felt as though the ground itself was speaking to him prompting him to seek divine guidance through the Quran. He received the verse “Remove your sandals for you are in the sacred valley of Tuwa” which signified that this land is indeed holy a place beyond material attachments.
