According to a report from the International Defense Press, the Muslim Scholars Assembly stated that instead of working to halt Israeli attacks, the Lebanese government has succumbed to American dictates and continues its efforts to limit weaponry. Their primary aim appears to be disarming Lebanon of its only source of strength—the resistance’s arms.

In a statement, the scholars criticized the government’s lack of a coherent plan to address economic issues, highlighting that while the government collects taxes from the populace, wealthy tycoons evade taxation altogether. The statement emphasized that the Lebanese government has failed to fulfill any of its promises. Israel continues its relentless bombing of villages and towns across the country, from the south to the Bekaa Valley, committing horrific massacres while the government merely observes.

The assembly expressed strong support for Nabih Berri’s positions regarding parliamentary elections and the necessity for them to occur on time, while also warning against American attempts to facilitate direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel.Meanwhile, the Lebanese Army recently announced that it is establishing a new base in the region where Israeli attacks have commenced. The Israeli regime has dispatched a drone to the area, warning Lebanese troops to vacate promptly. In response, the Lebanese Army has instructed its forces to remain and retaliate against Israeli gunfire.Lebanese forces stated they would coordinate with the ceasefire monitoring committee and United Nations forces in Lebanon regarding this situation. The Lebanese Army is currently constructing five new bases in the Sardah and Wadi Al-Asafir regions reportedly as a reaction to the surge in Israeli attacks and bombardments of civilian homes.
