Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, the President of the Supreme Islamic Council and the Imam of Al-Aqsa, stated that the occupying regime has escalated its restrictions against the mosque, aiming to diminish the number of Muslims visiting this holy site.

In an interview with Arabic 21, Sheikh Sabri emphasized the need for hundreds of thousands of worshipers to gather at Al-Aqsa. However, the occupying regime has imposed severe restrictions, preventing many young people from Jerusalem from accessing the mosque. The Imam, who has faced hostile actions from the Israeli regime that restrict his access to this sacred place, noted that stringent limitations have been placed at the outer gates of occupied Jerusalem, extending to the gates of Al-Aqsa itself.

Sheikh Sabri pointed out that the occupying authorities have established rigorous and surprise checkpoints around and within occupied Jerusalem, allowing only a limited number of individuals to enter. These checkpoints are also closed during Friday prayers, obstructing worshipers from attending prayers at Al-Aqsa.He further stated that the restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities contradict the principles of religious freedom and international laws, leading to heightened tensions and conflicts.

As the head of the Supreme Islamic Council in Jerusalem, the foremost public Islamic authority in Palestine, Sheikh Sabri continued by highlighting the severe limitations placed on media regarding Jerusalem affairs, indicating that the occupiers suppress journalists to prevent the truth from being revealed. He stressed that this behavior proves the occupiers are dictatorial, unwilling to acknowledge global realities, and aim to keep journalists away from the scene of events. In this context, every Muslim must take action and heed the call of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to visit Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Sheikh Ikrima Sabri urged that those who are barred from reaching Al-Aqsa should not give up on their efforts to access it and must persist in their attempts. The occupiers are seeking to renew their initiatives to Judaize Jerusalem and impose their sovereignty over Al-Aqsa gradually. This year, as Ramadan begins, Israeli forces have transformed occupied Jerusalem and the surroundings of Al-Aqsa Mosque into a military zone, converting the narrow streets of the Old City into a militarized area with thousands of police deployed. They have erected iron barriers at the city gates to restrict worshipers from the West Bank from entering.

Israeli officials have also initiated widespread expulsions of Palestinians, particularly religious figures, imams, and preachers from Jerusalem before the start of Ramadan to reduce the number of Palestinians present at Al-Aqsa during this holy month. The actions executed by the occupying police during Ramadan indicate a clear trend towards altering the religious and political landscape in Jerusalem. This includes unprecedented restrictions on Palestinians an increase in settler assaults on Al-Aqsa and a weakening of the longstanding status quo.

The Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque has raised alarms about the ongoing efforts by occupiers to Judaize Jerusalem, calling for urgent action to protect this sacred site.

[64

post-28295","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-palestine
["GET
