For the first time, Americans are expressing more empathy and solidarity with Palestinians than with Israelis. This change follows the devastating Gaza war.Views on the Middle East conflict are sharply divided along party lines, with the change over the past year largely attributed to a growing number of independents distancing themselves from Israel. The survey indicates that 41% of Americans now empathize more with Palestinians, while 36% support Israel. The remaining respondents are either uncertain or express empathy for both sides or neither.Although the statistical gap is not significant, this marks the first time in over two decades that Gallup has posed this question without Israel leading the empathy ratings. This also highlights a stark contrast from just a year ago when Israel had 46% empathy compared to 33% for Palestinians. When independents—those without party affiliation—were asked about their feelings, 11% leaned more towards Palestinians. Meanwhile, members of the Republican Party, particularly supporters of Donald Trump, continue to show strong backing for Israel, with 70% siding with them. However, this figure has decreased by 10% over the past decade.Democratic views toward Israel have become increasingly negative since a decade ago when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu openly clashed with then-President Barack Obama over diplomacy with Iran.

For the first time in a Gallup survey, American empathy for Palestinians has surpassed that for Israelis amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.

[64

post-27618","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-palestine
["GET
