This visit underscored Astana’s serious commitment to diversifying its international economic partnerships.A landmark achievement from this diplomatic mission was the signing of a significant investment agreement valued at approximately $180 million between Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture and the food giant Mars, Incorporated.

According to the strategic contract, this multinational company plans to establish a large, modern pet food production facility in the newly established city of Alatau. This major economic project will focus on the advanced processing of agricultural raw materials and the production of high-value-added goods, creating numerous job opportunities and significantly boosting the region’s economy. In this context, Mars’ CEO, Poul Weihrauch, emphasized that this modern facility in Kazakhstan would not merely serve as a local manufacturer but will also act as a regional operational hub for expanding the company’s presence across Central Asian markets and neighboring regions.

Another critical aspect of the negotiations involved health and medical infrastructure development. The Kazakh delegation engaged in extensive discussions with senior executives from Ashmore Group about a key proposal to build an international clinic and treatment center. This project will be executed in close collaboration with Ashmore Health Care International and Kazakhstan’s Samruk-Kazyna Invest fund, with the reputable Mount Sinai health network from the United States serving as the operator and executive manager of the medical center.

This important initiative aligns perfectly with Kazakhstan’s overarching strategy to enhance medical infrastructure and establish itself as a health tourism hub in the region. Furthermore, such projects are part of the ‘Open Investment Partnership’ program, aimed at attracting investment in advanced sectors based on new technologies within the national economy. The aviation sector also featured prominently in the agenda of this visit. During a specialized meeting with Boeing executives, President Tokayev confirmed the serious interest of domestic airlines, including Air Astana, SCAT Airlines, and Fly Jet Kazakhstan, in deepening bilateral cooperation with this aviation industry giant.

As planned, the national airline Air Astana expects to receive modern wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliners in the second half of 2026. The introduction of these long-range aircraft will pave the way for establishing direct flights between Kazakhstan and various cities in the United States.Meanwhile, SCAT Airlines is evaluating two major initiatives: first, acquiring additional passenger aircraft, and second, establishing the first specialized aircraft maintenance center at the international airport in the city of Shymkent, which will be developed with the technical partnership of a reputable American company.

The diplomatic visit concluded with high-level negotiations with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). Ben Black, the CEO of this vital financial entity, explicitly stated that Washington views Kazakhstan as a key strategic partner in the Eurasian region.Discussions primarily focused on financing and implementing joint projects in the mining sector and developing transportation and transit infrastructure, which are crucial for facilitating regional and inter-regional trade.

Kazakhstan’s undeniable dominance in attracting foreign investment is highlighted by the ‘World Investment Report 2025’ published by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The data indicates that in 2024, the total stock of foreign direct investment in Kazakhstan reached an impressive $151 billion, far surpassing Turkmenistan at around $45 billion, Uzbekistan at about $17 billion, and Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, each with only around $4 billion. The negotiations held in Washington clearly demonstrate that Astana is committed to building long-term institutional partnerships avoiding reliance on short-term investment contracts. This approach aims to assure international investors of the stability and security of Kazakhstan’s market.

In addition to economic achievements the visit also had political and humanitarian dimensions. During his stay Tokayev participated in the inaugural meeting of an entity known as the ‘Peace Board’ in Washington where he expressed Kazakhstan’s full willingness to participate in the reconstruction of the devastated infrastructure in Gaza and contribute to broader efforts to establish stability in the region emphasizing the potential for financial assistance and participation in peacekeeping initiatives.

Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev secured significant agreements in agriculture, health, and aviation during his official visit to the United States.

[64

post-25381","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-palestine
["GET
