The Islamic Waqf Administration in Jerusalem reported that tens of thousands of devotees arrived at the mosque’s courtyards and prayer halls throughout the evening. While families the elderly and retreating worshippers filled the mosque’s expansive grounds occupying forces were stationed around the Old City and its gates checking the identification cards of several young individuals and preventing some citizens from reaching the mosque.<\/p>\n
