This finding was presented during a session of the Knesset’s Subcommittee on Higher Education, which highlighted that Iran annually produces four times as many engineering graduates as Israel, while Israel grapples with reverse migration of its specialists.Maariv further reported that the Subcommittee on Higher Education held its first discussion session. During the session, it became evident that Iran trains scientists at a rate four times higher than Israel.Data related to student enrollment in the educational system was also presented. In the current academic year, 336,346 students are enrolled across 57 academic institutions, split evenly between colleges and universities.<\/p>\n
Emi Moyal, the head of the Planning and Budget Committee, stated, “We are responsible for educating scientists and engineers. There has been an almost 18 percent increase in the number of students enrolled in engineering fields and over a quarter in STEM disciplines.”He also acknowledged, “In Iran, 234,000 engineering students graduate annually, which is four times the number in Israel. This gap is similarly reflected in scientific publications\u2014Israel publishes around 22,700 scientific papers each year, while Iran’s figure stands at 71,900.”Naama Lazmi a Knesset member addressed the issue of reverse migration noting “2023 will witness significant emigration of doctors and academics highlighting the stark difference between those who leave and those who return. Doctors are seeking better work conditions with 949 having emigrated so far three-quarters of whom are under 40 years old.
