According to reports from international news agencies, Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s Finance Minister and member of the security-political cabinet, addressed the issue of Hamas disarmament by stating that the group will be given a short deadline to surrender its weapons. He warned that failure to comply would result in the Israeli army reoccupying previously vacated territories. This operation will be coordinated with American authorities, and international forces will quickly withdraw if necessary.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Israel’s official radio, Kan Reshet Bet, Smotrich emphasized that Israel remains committed to its goal of ‘destroying Hamas,’ but is allowing President Donald Trump to handle the situation in his own way. He added that a final warning will be issued to Hamas in the coming days, demanding the surrender of their arms; otherwise, the Israeli army will be authorized to re-enter the Gaza Strip, with plans already in place for this action.Smotrich elaborated that if Hamas does not heed this warning and deadline the Israeli army will re-enter the areas from which it has retreated taking control of Gaza once again. Various options are being considered but in any scenario if Hamas does not disarm reoccupation will occur.<\/p>\n
Regarding the presence of international forces he stated that if Hamas fails to surrender its weapons these forces will promptly withdraw to clear the way for the Israeli army’s entry. All actions will be carried out in full coordination with American officials and Smotrich indicated that these international forces may not act swiftly in practice.<\/p>\n
