However, a deeper analysis reveals that this narrative is not a reflection of reality but rather a calculated project aimed at justifying potential military aggression and rallying Western powers, especially the United States, to support such actions.

Since the conflict, Israeli media and operatives have made various claims regarding Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities that warrant scrutiny to clarify their implications.Claims of an 8,000-kilometer missile test and a unique nuclear weapon have been prominently featured. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently asserted that Iran is developing ballistic missiles capable of reaching 8,000 kilometers, claiming that these missiles could target U.S. cities. This assertion comes despite Iran’s consistent emphasis on its missile program being defensive and aligned with its inherent right to self-defense, designed in response to regional threats. Netanyahu’s claims aim to highlight Iran’s missile threat to the U.S., persuading American officials that this danger is not only unresolved but also more serious than before. Consequently, he suggests that military assistance from Western nations, particularly the U.S., is necessary, advocating for direct and sustained U.S. military involvement in any potential attack on Iran.Simultaneously, the nuclear issue remains a pretext for Israeli media to amplify threats. Security and military sources within Israel have reported to international media that Iran is ‘rebuilding nuclear sites,’ launching a new narrative around Iran’s nuclear ambitions. This is occurring despite multiple international organizations affirming the integrity of Iran’s nuclear program and the absence of any evidence suggesting Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons. In a peculiar report, the Hebrew-language website Yedioth Ahronoth claimed that ‘Iran has attempted to develop a fourth-generation nuclear weapon based on pure fusion, a technology not possessed by any country.’ This project, allegedly discovered before the twelve-day conflict, was purportedly halted due to an Israeli airstrike. Sources indicate that this weapon could revolutionize the balance of power. As the situation unfolds, Israeli media have pointed to Iran’s acquisition of modern fighter jets from Russia as a serious threat to the skies of Gulf nations. They frame Iran’s military enhancements as a danger to regional stability, despite the fact that Iran’s military developments are primarily defensive, aimed at protecting its airspace against aggressors such as Israel and the U.S. The primary goal of this threat inflation is to instill fear among Gulf countries regarding Iran’s military capabilities, seeking to align them with Israel in any potential aggression against Iran. The history of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past forty years demonstrates that Iran’s conventional military power has never been directed at threatening the sovereignty or borders of neighboring countries. In contrast, Israel has a documented history of aggression against regional nations, including those bordering Iran. Israel’s campaign of threat inflation serves to justify its ongoing terrorist operations against Iran, including the assassination of scientists and sabotage of facilities. By exaggerating Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities, Israel seeks to legitimize these actions as necessary measures against an ‘existential threat.’The concept of ‘Threat Inflation’ is well-known in international relations, where a country deliberately amplifies the capabilities or intentions of a rival or enemy beyond the actual threat. This strategy has been historically employed to justify military interventions or increase defense budgets. In Israel’s case, it pursues at least three primary objectives: 1) Justifying increased military spending while diverting attention from internal pressures. By portraying Iran as an ‘existential threat,’ Netanyahu’s right-wing government can rally the public around a common enemy, allowing it to sidestep domestic criticisms regarding political issues and security failures. 2) Creating international consensus against Iran by presenting it as a transregional threat, potentially drawing in countries like Arab League members or even external powers into an anti-Iran coalition. 3) Psychologically preparing the international community for military action by reiterating claims of an ‘imminent threat’ from Iran, framing preemptive strikes as ‘necessary and defensive,’ reminiscent of the narrative used before the 2003 invasion of Iraq.Ultimately it is crucial to recognize that Israel’s recent claims about Iran’s defensive capabilities stem not from reality but from a long-term ‘Threat Inflation’ project. The ultimate goal of this initiative is not to ‘expose the threat of Iran’ but to ‘construct the threat of Iran’ fabricating a mythical monster to garner international support divert attention from internal crises and ultimately pave the way for another military incursion with foreign assistance including from the United States. Domestic officials and media must remain vigilant avoiding amplification of Israel’s narratives while providing a rational and accurate counter-narrative to prevent playing into the hands of this Israeli-led scheme.

Frustrated by the outcomes of the recent twelve-day conflict and their inability to achieve primary objectives, Israeli officials are collaborating with Western nations to prepare for potential aggression against Iran.

[64

post-20344","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-palestine
["GET
