After each suicide operation in the occupied territories, Ayyash would painstakingly make his way to the operation site to assess the results firsthand, identifying strengths and weaknesses.

The significant risks involved for a Palestinian in the West Bank, where the likelihood of being discovered is high, underscore a crucial point: to conduct more effective operations, precise information about previous actions is essential. This principle is so critical that it puts even the life of a prominent commander like Ayyash at risk.Recently, a short video showing the moment of an Israeli attack on an air defense facility during a 12-day conflict was aired on national media, sparking widespread criticism. During a television interview with the deputy of air defense operations, footage of a missile striking one of the facilities was shown, including footage from the center’s surveillance cameras. It is remarkable that the opposing side, the Israeli regime, has never released even a single frame of similar footage from attacks on its military sites, let alone surveillance camera images.

As previously mentioned, one of the most important requirements in military engagements is to evaluate the accuracy and effectiveness of attacks. After operations, it is crucial to have documentation that allows for the assessment of the attack’s strengths and weaknesses, including critical factors such as the precision of the weaponry used, damaged equipment, and the types of systems present at that specific facility. Logically, the opposing side should do everything possible to prevent such documentation from falling into enemy hands.During the operations known as Promised Operations 1 and 2, as well as throughout the 12-day conflict, it was repeatedly stated that significant military sites in Israel, such as air bases, were among the primary targets for Iran. Public images indicated that many missiles had struck these sites, yet not a single frame of civilian casualties was permitted to be released by the Israelis, as the enemy should not easily ascertain the outcomes of its attacks.

The lack of image release serves two main purposes: first, to prevent information leaks that would allow the enemy to evaluate their performance, and second, to protect the reputation and authority of the armed forces. Both of these reasons are central to the criticisms surrounding the recent video release and similar past instances. The rationale behind the release of this video, particularly by those who typically enforce stringent restrictions on other media outlets, seems to be to inform the Iranian public that the armed forces are committed to their duty of safeguarding the country’s territory even in perilous conditions. No fair-minded Iranian or non-Iranian would deny this commitment. The sacrifices of military personnel, whether from the army or the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, particularly the brave air defense fighters during the recent conflict, clearly demonstrate this point. However, can this reasoning justify the release of footage and documentation that undermines the military’s authority and, more critically, provides the enemy with the means to accurately assess the results of their attacks on a vital air defense facility? How much would the Israeli regime have to invest to obtain even a single frame showing the impact of its missiles on a military site with such detail and certainty? Yet, we are inadvertently providing them with far more than they could have hoped for, from two distinct angles.

Moreover, the indiscriminate release of even seemingly less significant images can be highly beneficial for the enemy, given the increasing development of open-source intelligence and information-gathering techniques. Additionally, certain details revealed in the released images, such as room conditions, computer systems, and connected components like modem types, are also crucial and impactful for the enemy.Following this recent interview some social media users claimed they were able to locate the interview’s geographical coordinates a pattern that has also occurred in the past during the unveiling of certain military achievements. The implications of this are significant as it facilitates the enemy’s understanding of our critical military sites.

It appears that despite the armed forces’ concerns regarding media and advertising strategies there remains a pressing need for a serious reevaluation of the decision-making processes and individuals involved. The 12-day conflict despite the inevitable toll of warfare presents a valuable opportunity for reassessing many of these processes both in military and media realms. Reevaluating and refining military and security protocols which have faced increased scrutiny in the media is an intrinsic duty of high-ranking commanders and decision-makers within the armed forces. Equally there is a pressing need for dedication to media and advertising efforts which must be prioritized by military leaders and media outlets alike.

Reassessing and refining military and security protocols is a fundamental responsibility of high-ranking commanders and decision-makers within armed forces.
