A new survey indicates that the psychological repercussions of this war have escalated to alarming levels, with approximately one-third of Israelis experiencing significant mental health challenges.

The Times of Israel, which published the survey results, reported that around 32% of respondents expressed a need for psychological support due to the ongoing pressures of the conflict. Conducted in November, the survey involved 1,100 Israelis aged 20 to 75. The findings show that the demand for psychological assistance among Israelis has reached its highest level compared to pre-war years.

Furthermore, 17% of participants rated their mental health as average or poor. The situation within the Israeli military appears even more critical, with 39% of soldiers who served in the past year requiring specialized psychological support. Additionally, 26% of military personnel reported experiencing depression, while 48% suffered from severe sleep disturbances. The Israeli military has also reported 21 suicides among its personnel since the beginning of 2025, although this figure is likely underreported due to typical censorship regarding military casualties. The psychological crisis within Israeli society extends beyond mental health issues, leading to significant social consequences. The survey results indicate a marked increase in cigarette and tobacco consumption among smokers in 2025.

In response to the crisis, numerous mental health professionals have been deployed to assist soldiers during the conflict. A dedicated hotline and group therapy sessions have been established for military personnel. However, experts warn that Israel remains ill-equipped to address the scale of psychological trauma being experienced.

Reports from various military personnel and psychologists reveal that many Israeli soldiers suffering from war-related psychological injuries feel a sense of aimlessness, struggle with concentration, and face difficulties in forming relationships, all while grappling with increasing despair.Hebrew media outlets have reported that over 10000 Israeli soldiers are currently undergoing treatment for mental health issues and post-traumatic stress disorder. However only 3769 soldiers dealing with PTSD have received specialized care. Itamar Graf the Deputy Director-General and Head of Planning at the Israeli Ministry of Defense addressed the issue of suicide in the military stating that they have implemented strategies to combat this crisis and formed teams of psychotherapists to monitor soldiers’ cases. Unfortunately there has been a notable increase in suicide rates among Israeli forces with each incident representing a failure to protect their well-being.

Professor Haggai Hermes a psychiatrist and founder of the organization ‘For Life’ emphasized that the reported suicide statistics in the Israeli military only scratch the surface estimating that between 500 to 700 suicides occur annually largely unnoticed by the media. The loss of soldiers to suicide deeply troubles him especially as he lost his own son during his military service. He advocates for accurate information dissemination as a primary strategy for suicide prevention calling for transparent data regarding the scope of this issue within the military and Israeli society.

A recent survey reveals that one-third of the Zionist community is suffering from severe psychological crises following the Gaza war.

[64

post-20105","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-palestine
["GET
