Military Documents Reveal Ethnic Cleansing Tactics Used by Israel During 1948 War

The Hebrew-language newspaper Haaretz has reported on the release of military documents that allegedly demonstrate the use of intimidation terrorism and ethnic cleansing by Israeli forces during the 1948 war. According to the publication these recently declassified documents indicate that certain commanders and troops employed violent methods to force Palestinians from their homes.

In its report Haaretz detailed that one of the documents cites Maxim Cohen the commander of the Carmeli Brigade at the time who stated that the evacuation of villages was achieved through instilling fear among the residents. This revelation sheds light on the controversial tactics used during a pivotal moment in history raising questions about the implications of such actions on the Palestinian population.
