According to Al Alam, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement reacting to remarks by Mike Huckabee, the U.S. Ambassador in Tel Aviv, regarding Israel’s alleged right to occupy Arab territories. The ministry asserted that these claims are a blatant violation of international principles, laws, and the United Nations Charter.
The statement highlighted that Huckabee’s assertions contradict the views of former President Donald Trump, particularly concerning the 20-point plan aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza and the outcomes of the recent Peace Council conference held in Washington last week. The Egyptian government reiterated that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories or any other Arab lands. Cairo expressed its opposition to any attempts to annex the West Bank, separate it from Gaza, or expand settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, Huckabee claimed that Israel has rights over lands stretching from the Nile to the Euphrates. Huckabee represents a traditional conservative faction that strongly supports the Israeli regime, particularly within right-wing evangelical circles in the United States.According to Al Jazeera these statements reflect an increasing overlap between quasi-religious rhetoric and U.S. foreign policy especially concerning the Israeli regime. They also highlight the divisions within the American right regarding the nature and limits of support for Tel Aviv.
