According to the Hebrew newspaper Maariv, Ephraim Ganor highlighted in an article that after two years of conflict, the security situation has deteriorated, governance has become chaotic, and personal safety for residents has significantly declined.
He criticized the cabinet led by Benjamin Netanyahu, describing it as ‘lacking effective leaders’. Ganor pointed out that the government has failed to provide serious responses to rising living costs, the reconstruction of northern settlements and areas around the Gaza Strip, declining educational standards, and increasing traffic-related fatalities.Ganor also accused the Israeli cabinet of focusing on narrative-building regarding the October 7 attack instead of addressing internal crises.
He noted that the cabinet is consistently working to facilitate the evasion of military service by extremist religious factions, which he described as ‘creating a government within a government’ and imposing heavy costs on Israeli settlers.Critically assessing the opposition’s performance, Ganor stated that they appear ‘weak and even passive’ in the face of these challenges. Instead of mobilizing public opinion and taking effective political action, they have limited themselves to issuing statements and promises. As the date for the next elections approaches, he emphasized the expectation that at least two new political parties would emerge with fresh approaches aimed at instigating change.
Some observers have suggested that the party affiliated with Naftali Bennett is among the options gaining traction in polls, yet there has been no indication of a new vision from this faction thus far.In conclusion Ganor warned that the indifference of a significant portion of the Israeli population towards the ongoing crises could have severe consequences for the future of this regime.
