According to international defense reports citing the Syrian channel ‘Al-Ikhbariya’, an Israeli military patrol assaulted two children while they were tending to livestock in the village of Bouayka, located in central Quneitra. During this aggressive operation, a sheep was stolen by the occupying forces.

The aftermath of this attack on the children has not been disclosed by Al-Ikhbariya, and Syrian officials have remained silent on the incident. The repeated violations of Syrian sovereignty by the Israeli regime have become a near-daily occurrence, despite Damascus’s reiterated commitment to the 1974 disengagement agreement established between the two parties.Following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on December 8 2023 Tel Aviv has effectively nullified this agreement. These violations encompass ground incursions and artillery bombardments particularly in the Quneitra and Daraa regions alongside the detention of citizens and the establishment of checkpoints to interrogate passersby as well as the destruction of agricultural products.

These developments occur despite the announcement of a communication mechanism between Syria and Israel on January 6 under U.S. supervision aimed at coordinating information exchange reducing military tensions fostering diplomatic engagement and exploring trade opportunities.

Syrians assert that the ongoing infringement of their national sovereignty by the Israeli regime severely hampers their ability to restore stability and disrupts governmental efforts to attract investment and improve the economic situation.
