Oman’s Foreign Minister Highlights Historic Opportunity for U.S.-Iran Diplomacy

Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman, emphasized the existence of a significant and historic opportunity for diplomatic resolution between the United States and Iran. In an interview with CBS, he expressed uncertainty regarding President Trump’s stance on immediate resolution, particularly in light of potential military action.

When questioned about the possibility of Israel launching an attack while negotiations between the U.S. and Iran are underway, al-Busaidi expressed hope that such an event would not occur. He acknowledged the precarious nature of diplomacy, particularly if Israel were to initiate conflict, which could jeopardize the ongoing discussions surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.Reflecting on past events al-Busaidi recalled the turmoil of the previous summer during which diplomatic efforts were disrupted by bombings amidst U.S.-Iran negotiations. He articulated his deep concern about the potential for history to repeat itself noting that the global community shares similar apprehensions regarding the current situation.
