The United States Embassy in Israel has issued a statement regarding the evacuation of non-essential personnel. On February 27 2026 the Department of State authorized the departure of non-emergency government staff and their family members from the mission in Israel citing safety concerns.
This announcement comes in response to rising security incidents. The U.S. Embassy indicated that without prior notice it may impose travel restrictions on government employees and their families limiting or prohibiting access to specific areas in Israel including the Old City of Jerusalem and the West Bank. Individuals are encouraged to consider departing Israel while commercial flights remain operational.
