Obstacles Faced by the Gaza Administration Committee Amid Israeli Restrictions

A diplomatic source has revealed that the Israeli regime is obstructing the activities of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza hindering meetings between committee members and European officials among others.

The source informed Al-Quds Al-Arabi that Ali Shath the chairman of the committee had received assurances from Nikolai Mladenov the representative of the Peace Council for Gaza regarding the necessary approvals for the committee’s entry into Gaza. This came after the committee presented its ‘100-Day Relief Plan’ aimed at providing assistance to the region which includes expanding food and medical aid as well as improving temporary housing conditions.

The source highlighted a clear pattern of delay tactics employed by Israel aimed at preventing the committee’s presence in Gaza. Despite the committee’s requests they remain unfulfilled as Israel continues to impose restrictions exacerbating the humanitarian situation in the region.

According to the source Shath following his participation in a Washington meeting (the Peace Council for Gaza) received promises from the President of the United States regarding the success of the committee’s initiatives in Gaza. However despite this meeting and the announcement of substantial aid for Gaza the conditions in the area have not improved.

The importance of the committee’s presence in Gaza is underscored for assuming its responsibilities and commencing operations to implement the relief plan for Gaza. In this context another diplomatic source told the aforementioned newspaper that the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza has neither agreed nor disagreed to requests from numerous foreign ambassadors and diplomats in the Egyptian capital to meet with the committee’s president and members.

This indecisiveness stems from the restrictions imposed by the Peace Council representative (Mladenov) at the behest of the United States which insists that all communications regarding Gaza’s plans and their implementation be limited to American officials and Mladenov himself. The source noted that many politicians including ambassadors from Europe are eager to engage directly with the committee’s leadership to assess the situation thereby shaping pathways for future collaboration and support.
