In occupied Palestine, Haredi Jewish protesters gathered in Jerusalem, blocking traffic on Haim Bar Lev Street and disrupting the flow of public transportation.

Israeli police reported confrontations with demonstrators who were obstructing the train tracks and streets by dragging garbage bins and erecting metal barriers. These actions caused significant disruptions to vehicle movement and public transport services in the area.Additionally, the protesters ignited fires in the streets of occupied Jerusalem.

Earlier, on February 21, hundreds of Israelis demonstrated in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv against Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet, leading to clashes between police and protesters. The protests aimed to advocate for exemptions for ultra-Orthodox Jews from military service, criticize the government’s failure to handle the Al-Aqsa Storm operation on October 7, 2023, and highlight the role of Israeli police in escalating violence within the Arab community in Israel.

Reports indicated that hundreds gathered in Habima Square in central Tel Aviv, while others assembled on Paris Street in Jerusalem, resulting in confrontations with police. The Israeli police labeled the protests illegal stating that demonstrators began blocking roads causing traffic disruptions and setting off fireworks.

In their statement the police described the participants as ‘wicked and riotous’ asserting that they resorted to force and crowd dispersal tactics to restore public order after protesters refused to comply with police directives.

Demonstrators demanded mandatory military service for Haredim in the Israeli army a move that several right-wing parties in Israel threatened to use to topple the ruling coalition if implemented.
