Response of Speaker Qalibaf to Trump’s Statements in Congress

In a recent address the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf responded to claims made by former U.S. President Donald Trump during his annual congressional report. Qalibaf asserted that Trump disseminated false information urging him to avoid erroneous analyses and misguided decisions based on inaccuracies.

Qalibaf highlighted that misleading reports suggested the city of Mashhad had fallen while evidence indicates that the Israeli regime instigated the recent unrest. He pointed out that on December 12 Trump officially declared his support for the protesters.

During his congressional remarks Trump reiterated these inaccuracies notably omitting any reference to the atrocities committed by the Israeli regime and past terrorists responsible for over 17000 assassinations in Iran. Qalibaf criticized this lack of honesty and understanding of the Iranian populace as the root cause of Trump’s statements.

He emphasized that if Trump were to examine history and facts he would recognize that Iran has never pursued nuclear weapons and does not intend to in the future a stance consistently articulated by Iranian officials and the leadership of the revolution.

Qalibaf concluded by asserting that both Trump and the Israeli regime failed in nuclear negotiations and resorted to threats fueled by misinformation instead of engaging in honest dialogue.
