Saudi Crown Prince’s Special Mission to Address Tensions with Egypt

A Lebanese newspaper has revealed that the primary objective of the meeting between the Egyptian President and the Saudi Crown Prince in Jeddah was not focused on Gaza but rather aimed at mitigating the rift between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.

The report from Al-Akhbar indicates that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman emphasized the necessity for a ‘practical apology’ from Abu Dhabi regarding past grievances. This demand arises not only from Riyadh’s perception of damage to its interests but also due to what it considers the ‘obstruction’ by the Emirates in Saudi initiatives and the ‘exploitation’ of allies to pursue objectives that contradict Saudi efforts.

During this meeting bin Salman reiterated Saudi Arabia’s openness to welcoming Emirati officials and providing counsel at any time or arranging similar discussions on the sidelines of regional gatherings contingent upon achieving tangible progress. Furthermore he called for concrete actions from the Emirates that would demonstrate their goodwill towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia whether in Yemen or in other matters.
