The Uncertain Future of Gaza: Implications of the Peace Council and Disarmament Conditions

The recent establishment of a body referred to as the ‘Peace Council’ has plunged Gaza into a period of uncertainty. This phase is characterized by conditions where reconstruction and the lifting of the blockade are contingent upon the disarmament of resistance groups.

Simultaneously the Israeli regime is anticipating the failure of the plan proposed by Donald Trump the President of the United States which would provide a pretext for initiating a new conflict against Gaza. This proposal fundamentally disregards Palestinian national will and sovereignty relying instead on imposition and the expectation of complete submission from the populace.

According to reports from Al-Akhbar the recent meeting of the Peace Council held on Thursday did not significantly alter the daily realities of life in Gaza. However it did exacerbate the prevailing ambiguity regarding the region’s future stemming from the new condition that disarmament must precede any reconstruction efforts. This stipulation is one of the key principles of Trump’s twenty-point plan which encompasses reconstruction lifting the blockade and economic organization in Gaza.
