Global Inaction Amidst Genocide and Forced Displacement in Gaza

Warsan Ohans Aghabekian, the Foreign Minister of the Palestinian Authority, has declared that the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, are facing genocide and forced displacement. He criticized the international community for its failure to ensure the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.Aghabekian pointed out that the delay in empowering the Palestinian people to realize their right to self-determination has perpetuated a political and humanitarian crisis. Despite previous agreements, including the Sharm el-Sheikh Accord, violations continue unabated. The blockade of Gaza remains in effect, border crossings are closed, and humanitarian aid workers are increasingly targeted. He also reported a rapid acceleration of annexation processes in the West Bank, with a notable increase in settlement construction, land confiscation, and assaults by settlers. Highlighting the plight of Palestinian prisoners, Aghabekian mentioned ongoing administrative detention and torture, warning against the implementation of capital punishment for detainees. In conclusion he expressed readiness to assume responsibility for the governance and security of Gaza with support from Arab nations and the international community. This step could pave the way for national unity and the reconstruction of institutions.
