According to a report from Kuala Lumpur, Sharif Abu Shamala warned journalists about what he termed ‘dangerous plans’ against Al-Aqsa Mosque. He highlighted that the overlap of Ramadan with certain Zionist events could escalate tensions and provoke actions at this sacred site.

Abu Shamala noted recent signs indicating increased restrictions against Palestinians, including heightened armed presence around and at the entrances of Al-Aqsa Mosque, stringent control of movement, and the issuance of hundreds of entry bans for Palestinian youths and activists. He stated that the atmosphere surrounding Al-Aqsa has become more security-oriented than ever before. He expressed concern over efforts to alter the current status quo at this holy site stating that Zionists are attempting to impose new regulations and normalize certain non-Muslim religious practices within the precincts of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Furthermore the President of the Al-Quds Foundation Malaysia pointed out media restrictions noting that several local media outlets covering daily developments at Al-Aqsa have ceased operations in recent weeks. He claimed this move aims to control narratives and prevent the dissemination of images and field reports.

Abu Shamala emphasized that this year’s situation is distinctly different from previous years and called on the Islamic community to respond with vigilance and solidarity to the forthcoming developments.
