According to a report by the Palestinian news agency, this institution emphasized that such actions starkly illustrate the brutality stemming from the Israeli racist and provocative mechanisms targeting Islamic and Christian sanctities in Palestine. These crimes are a blatant assault on Muslims and their sentiments.
A group of Israeli settlers attacked the village of Tal, south of Nablus, on Tuesday, setting fire to the entrance of the ‘Abu Bakr al-Siddiq’ mosque.Reports indicate that the assailants also scrawled racist phrases on the walls of the mosque. Attempts to completely burn down the mosque were thwarted with damages confined to the entrance area.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs of Palestine condemned this act stating that the attempt by a group of occupying settlers to set fire to the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq mosque was unsuccessful. The ministry highlighted that these groups act under the protection of occupying forces asserting that the continuation of such attacks constitutes a clear violation of religious sites and exacerbates tensions in the West Bank.
