Iran’s Stance on Military Engagement and Missile Capabilities

In a recent interview with CBS, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, articulated a firm stance regarding potential military actions by the United States. He asserted that if the U.S. were to attack Iran, its bases in the region would become primary targets. Araqchi emphasized the superiority of Iranian missiles over Israeli defenses, claiming they possess the precision to strike their intended targets effectively.

Araqchi reflected on the recent conflict with Israel, noting that despite facing challenges in aerial defense, Iranian missiles successfully hit targets within Israel with remarkable accuracy. He pointed out that Israel initiated the hostilities but sought a ceasefire after just 12 days, highlighting Iran’s substantial missile capabilities and its current strong position for self-defense.He stated ‘If the U.S. attacks Iran it would be an act of aggression and Iran reserves the full right to defend itself.’ While he acknowledged that Iranian missiles do not reach U.S. territory he indicated that American bases in the region would be potential targets in the event of conflict.

Araqchi refrained from delving into specific military strategies but questioned the necessity of pursuing war when peaceful resolutions remain possible. His remarks underscore Iran’s commitment to maintaining its defensive posture while advocating for diplomatic solutions.
