According to reports, Abdul Rahman Shadid, a prominent leader within Hamas, has highlighted the dire situation of political detainees at Al-Junaid Prison. The ongoing detentions and hunger strikes, persisting for over a year, illustrate the grave crisis these prisoners face, reflecting the level of oppression resulting from arbitrary arrests and torture by the security services of the Palestinian Authority.
Abdul Rahman Shadid emphasized that the torture and deprivation of basic human rights endured by these detainees represent a significant breach of national and ethical standards. He called for immediate action to alleviate their suffering. The Hamas leader held the Palestinian Authority’s leadership fully accountable for the well-being of those on hunger strike describing their struggle as a fight for dignity and freedom. He asserted that during the holy month of Ramadan there should be an urgent call for the immediate release of all political prisoners and an end to the practice of detaining individuals based on their political views. Continuing this trend only deepens internal divisions and serves the enemies of the Palestinian cause.
