According to reports from Mashregh citing Ma’an, the Tel Ma’in area in Masafer Yatta is experiencing heightened conflict and tension due to assaults by Israeli settlers, backed directly by the Israeli army.
Recent reports indicate that Israeli forces initially occupied a four-square-meter area near this region under the pretext of security, subsequently advancing to seize more territory.The primary objective of the Israeli military’s presence in this area is to support settler attacks against the local Palestinian population.
Israeli settlers justify their actions by claiming the existence of an archaeological site in the region despite the fact that Tel Ma’in is considered part of the Palestinian cultural heritage. This area is strategically significant due to its vantage point over large sections of Masafer Yatta and surrounding territories.
Palestinians are increasingly concerned that this region may ultimately fall under the control of Israeli military and settlers.
